DV Group Treatment
*Available in southcentral Wisconsin only
$1,040.00 total or $40 per week/participant
This 26-week Domestic Violence Group Treatment program is a structured course designed to help individuals stop abusive and controlling behaviors and develop safer, more responsible ways of relating, rooted in their personal values.
This program is appropriate for court-mandated and voluntary participants and emphasizes accountability, victim safety, and lasting behavior change.
Program Structure
Duration: 26 weeks (court-ordered participants are allowed two pre-excused absences if necessary; any additional absences beyond that will result in participant discharge)
Format: Weekly group sessions, 1 ½ hours each time
Setting: In-person (Green or Rock County, Wisconsin)
Pre-requisites: All group members must first undergo a domestic violence assessment, either through Regarding You or another provider, within the past 12 months. Click this link to learn more about our DV assessments and schedule an appointment to start your assessment process with Regarding You. Group intake will occur as part of the assessment and is included in the assessment fee.
Participants with a DV assessment completed by another provider will be asked to provide Regarding You with a copy prior to starting group, and must complete a group intake appointment with Regarding You to discuss if the program is a mutually good fit. (30-45 minutes virtually; $50; Submit your completed DV assessment and schedule a group intake appointment here).
Participation: Active engagement, discussion, and skill practice required
Payment: Payment for group participation will be collected each week. At this time, the treatment program is not covered by insurance.
*Some treatment may include virtual individual sessions to support progress and address specific needs.
An important note about our DV treatment group availability and process:
Regarding You provides services to any person who has used harm in an intimate relationship, including men, women, and gender non-conforming individuals. However, our groups will never mix genders. If there are not enough people from your specific gender demographic to make a group (minimum required is three), Regarding You can provide virtual individual treatment services to meet your needs.
As a mobile DV treatment service provider, Regarding You does not have an established physical location where we provide services. Our DV groups are held in Rock and Green County, Wisconsin. We begin a 26-week group cycle when at least three people are committed to participating, and groups will consist of no more than eight members at a time. Regarding You will maintain a waitlist if necessary. Group members must first undergo a DV assessment prior to joining group, either through our agency or elsewhere.
The group is considered an open group, but not a “drop in” group; participants are welcome to join the group only after having an intake appointment with Regarding You. Individuals that are interested in group treatment but are determined through the assessment process to not be a good fit for group will be directed to virtual individual treatment.
Treatment Approach
The 26-week group curriculum draws from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and the Duluth Model. Materials for groups are adapted from the following curriculums being widely used within domestic violence treatment throughout the United States.
CBT Guide for Intimate Partner Violence, published by Harborview Abuse and Trauma Center in Washington State in 2020.
